What is this Course about?

This course will take you from the very basics, such as setting up your sewing machine and discovering what the ‘knobs’ do. You will also practice your skills by sewing four basic projects including bunting and a draw string bag.

Who is this Course for?

This course is aimed at people who have little or no knowledge of how to use their sewing machine and how to sew using a machine. It can also serve as a refresher for those who used to sew.

Entry Requirements to do this Course:

A basic level of conversational and written English. Reasonable motor skills, as you will need to be able to manipulate fabric and tools. Plus, you will need a working sewing machine and basic tools and materials.   

How you will be assessed?

Through questions and answers, the completion of weekly learner reflection forms and a sample of your work completed during the session.

How much studying will I need to do outside of the lesson?

You will need to spend an hour or so per week to prepare your fabric for the following week.

What learners need to bring/supply

Students will need to provide all materials and tools to complete the project being created. A material listing will be provided prior to the start of the course. We also suggest items you would normally throw away so reduce costs and be sustainable.

Additional Information

The amount of time practising is totally up to you but the more you put in, the more you will get out of this course.
