What is this workshop about?
Want to work with children? Need a job that fits around school holidays? This taster session will give you an overview of the roles available in schools, how schools work, and the skills needed to work in a school. You will be given information, advice and guidance on how to develop your skills and prepare for a job in a school.
Who is this workshop for?
This course is aimed at adults who are thinking of volunteering or working in a school setting.
Entry Requirements to do this workshop:
No previous experience is required, however conversational English and some digital skills to allow you to access and use Google Classroom is desirable.
How you will be assessed?
Through verbal questioning, quizzes and a written learner reflection.
After this workshop you might like to… book onto our 5-week ‘Introduction to working in schools’ course or the 10-week ‘Level 1 Preparing to work in schools’ qualification course. Develop your English & Maths skills with our Functional Skills courses.
What learners need to bring/supply
You must have a tablet or laptop with a working camera that can access Google Classroom.
Please note that this is a live interactive online course, learners will be expected to have their camera on and participate fully at all times.

There are two steps to complete before studying with us and booking on here is the first step. Your next step will be to enrol on your chosen course following the instructions attached to your order confirmation email.
NOTE: This workshop is for Hertfordshire Residents Only - *With the exception of the registration fee, this workshop is fully funded by The Education & Skills Funding Agency for adults who meet a set criteria - please see further details under the 'Further Information' heading.
Online live streamed
This course/workshop is run as real-time online using Google Classroom. This means that instead of having to go to a classroom, the classroom comes to you! You are taught by a teacher and you will have classmates that you share ideas with. To take part you will need a tablet or laptop/computer with a webcam and microphone to enable you to interact. A few days before the start, your teacher will email you with instructions on how to join the class.
*Except for the registration fee, this workshop is fully funded by The Education & Skills Funding Agency for adults who meet the following criteria:
- A Hertfordshire Resident
- Aged 19 years or older on 1st September 2023
- UK National and lived in the UK for the last 3 years or EEA National with settled/pre-settled status and lived in the UK/EEA for the last 3 years
