    Teacher: This workshop is being taught by Beverley.

    What is this workshop about?

    Your payslip contains important information, including your payroll number, your gross and net pay, your tax code etc. It is important to understand your payslip and how to make sure you are being paid the right amount.

    This workshop will help you to understand all information your payslip contains including your rights to a payslip. You will learn:

    • Bands and rates of income tax
    • How to work out income tax
    • Difference between gross pay and net pay
    • How to work out net pay
    • Main types (or ‘classes’) of National Insurance

    Who is this workshop for?

    The workshop is for those who would like to know more about their payslips.

    Entry Requirements to do this workshop:

    A basic level of conversational and written English is needed to complete this workshop. 

    How you will be assessed?

    Through questions and answers, the completion of learner reflection form.

    Online live streamed - Google Classroom

    Venue Information

    This course/workshop is run as real-time online using Google Classroom. This means that instead of having to go to a classroom, the classroom comes to you! You are taught by a teacher and you will have classmates that you share ideas with. To take part you will need a tablet or laptop/computer with a webcam and microphone to enable you to interact. A few days before the start, your teacher will email you with instructions on how to join the class.

    This workshop is fully funded by the Department of Education for Education for adults who meet the following criteria:

    • Aged 19 years or older on 1st September 2024.
    • A Hertfordshire resident.
    • A UK National and lived in the UK for the last 3 years or EEA National with settled/pre-settled status and lived in the UK/EEA for the last 3 years.
    • Do not hold a Maths GCSE qualification.
