What is this course about?
This qualification will cover a range of knowledge and skills required by team leaders and supervisors.
You will get an in-depth introduction to the role and its responsibilities. Topics include:
- The core skills to lead a team successfully.
- Better communication and collaboration in teams.
- Motivation techniques to get the best from people.
- The confidence to tackle difficult issues, like underperformance.
- Tools to develop yourself as a leader and be equipped with the skills needed to perform in the role.
- Improve competency to manage people and relationships at work.
Who is this course for?
This qualification is designed for new and aspiring team leaders who are already in work or looking to gain employment. This is a nationally recognised qualification and the ideal launch pad for job progression and a management career.
Entry Requirements to do this course:
A good level of conversational and written English is required. To be fully funded:
- Learners must be aged 19 or over and a resident in Hertfordshire.
- Either, unemployed or earning under the National Living Wage - £25,000 per year.
- Or, do not have a full Level 2 qualification or above (this excludes maths and English). Other L2 exclusions may apply.

How you will be assessed?
You will be required to attend the weekly live classes and participate in the group discussions and activities. You will need to complete a written assessment following each class which will be worksheets or assignments.
How much studying will I need to do outside of the lesson?
1-2 hours per week outside of the classes, depending on the unit.
What learners need to bring/supply
As the course is online, you will need a PC or laptop with a webcam or built-in camera and access to good Wi-Fi. (A mobile device; phone, tablet or iPad will not suffice)
Additional Information
This qualification requires a good level of commitment to ensure the assessment deadlines are met on time. This course runs 1pm to 3pm starting Wednesday 26th February 2025 and finishing on Wednesday 21st May 2025, please there are no classes on Wednesday 9th April 2025 and Wednesday 16th April 2025.

Venue Information
This course/workshop is run as real-time online using Google Classroom. This means that instead of having to go to a classroom, the classroom comes to you! You are taught by a teacher and you will have classmates that you share ideas with. To take part you will need a tablet or laptop/computer with a webcam and microphone to enable you to interact. A few days before the start, your teacher will email you with instructions on how to join the class.

To apply for this course, you must answer YES to points 1, 2 and 3:
- I am aged 19 years or older on 31st August 2024
- I am a Hertfordshire resident
- I am a National and lived in the UK for the last 3 years or EEA National with settled/pre-settled status and lived in the UK/EEA for the last 3 years.
To be fully funded you will also need to be:
- Unemployed and claiming benefits or working and earning below £25,000
