What is this course about?
Are you interested in becoming a teaching assistant, midday supervisor or volunteering in a school?
This introductory course tells you everything you need to know about working in primary schools. You will learn about the school structure and expectations, safeguarding, behaviour management strategies, current methods and ways of teaching maths and phonics. You will also be given guidance on applying for jobs in schools, where to find vacancies and how to ‘sell’ yourself on an application form.
This is a fantastic way to get a head start in this career
Who is this course for?
People wanting to work in a primary school as a classroom helper, teaching assistant, learning support assistant, midday supervisor or volunteer.
Entry Requirements to do this course:
A good level of conversational and written English is required.
How you will be assessed?
Through weekly Learner Reflections.
How much studying will I need to do outside of the lesson?
Optional homework.
After this course you might like to… volunteer or apply for a position in a school or do a Functional skills English/Maths course.
What learners need to bring/supply
A tablet or a computer to able to download the Google Classroom App.

Venue Information
This course/workshop is run as real-time online using Google Classroom. This means that instead of having to go to a classroom, the classroom comes to you! You are taught by a teacher and you will have classmates that you share ideas with. To take part you will need a tablet or laptop/computer with a webcam and microphone to enable you to interact. A few days before the start, your teacher will email you with instructions on how to join the class.
