    What is this course about?

    This course will introduce you to the basic skills that you need to use PowerPoint, whether it’s for work or personal use. In this course you will learn:

    • How to navigate the PowerPoint interface.
    • How to create, open and save presentations.
    • The basics of working with slides.
    • How to use the basic formatting of text, such as font, alignment and using accessibility functions
    • How to apply themes and change colours (design of your presentations)
    • How to insert pictures, images, tables and shapes.

    Who is this course for?

    This course is for people who are new to PowerPoint and want to learn how to use the key features. It is also suitable for anyone needing to refresh their skills.

    Entry Requirements to do this course:

    A basic level of conversational and written English is needed to complete this course. You must also have a basic level of computer skills.

    How you will be assessed?

    Question and answer, discussion and Learner reflection.

    What learners need to bring/supply

    Learners must have access to Microsoft PowerPoint and a laptop or desktop with good wifi and a webcam.

    Online live streamed - Google Classroom

    Venue Information

    This course/workshop is run as real-time online using Google Classroom. This means that instead of having to go to a classroom, the classroom comes to you! You are taught by a teacher and you will have classmates that you share ideas with. To take part you will need a tablet or laptop/computer with a webcam and microphone to enable you to interact. A few days before the start, your teacher will email you with instructions on how to join the class.

    Except for the registration fee, this course/workshop is fully funded by The Department for Education Adult Skills Fund, for adults who meet the following criteria:

    • A Hertfordshire Resident
    • Aged 19 years or older on 31st August 2026
    • A UK national or anyone with a lawful immigration status in the UK. You will not be eligible if you are in the UK under any of the following conditions:
      • On a student visa
      • On a sponsorship visa
      • On a visa or residence permit that restricts or prohibits study
      • In the UK on holiday (with or without a visa)
