    What is this workshop about?

    will help you to understand how Maths is taught in Primary schools and how you can support your child’s learning at home. You will learn some of the modern methods used for adding and subtracting as well as the meaning of new mathematical words/vocabulary. You will be given ideas on how to create free or low-cost sustainable resources that will help to develop children’s maths skills.

    Who is this workshop for?

    For parents, carers and anyone working with children of Primary School age (3-10yrs).

    Entry Requirements to do this workshop:

    No previous experience is required, however conversational English and some digital skills to allow you to access and use Google Classroom is desirable.  

    How you will be assessed?

    Through questions, quizzes and a learner reflection

    After this workshop you might like to… enrol on another Family Learning course such as Family English/Maths, sign up for an employability course such as ‘Introduction to working in schools’ or gain a new qualification on our Functional Skills Maths course.

    What learners need to bring/supply

    You must have a tablet or laptop with a working camera that can access Google Classroom.

    Additional Information

    Please note that this is a live interactive online course for adults, learners will be expected to have their camera on and participate fully at all times.

    Venue Information

    This course/workshop is run as real-time online using Google Classroom. This means that instead of having to go to a classroom, the classroom comes to you! You are taught by a teacher and you will have classmates that you share ideas with. To take part you will need a tablet or laptop/computer with a webcam and microphone to enable you to interact. A few days before the start, your teacher will email you with instructions on how to join the class.

    *Except for the registration fee, this workshop is fully funded by The Education & Skills Funding Agency for adults who meet the following criteria:

    • A Hertfordshire Resident
    • Aged 19 years or older on 1st September 2023
    • UK National and lived in the UK for the last 3 years or EEA National with settled/pre-settled status and lived in the UK/EEA for the last 3 years
