What is this Course about?
This course will help you improve your speaking and listening skills in English.
You will learn how to communicate in everyday situations and build your vocabulary. You will also practise understanding simple spoken English.
You will use English in real-life situations, such as shopping, talking about hobbies and daily activities. You will also learn how to ask for things and ask for permission in a polite way.
Who is this Course for?
This course is designed for people whose first language is not English.
Entry Requirements to do this Course:
An initial assessment may be required to establish your working level.
How you will be assessed?
Learners will be assessed throughout the classes. There is no formal assessment or exam
How much studying will I need to do outside of the lesson?
It is advised to practise speaking English when at home and outside of the classroom.
What learners need to bring/supply
A pen and a notebook.

Except for the registration fee, this course/workshop is fully funded by The Department for Education Adult Skills Fund, for adults who meet the following criteria:
- A Hertfordshire Resident
- Aged 19 years or older on 31st August 2026
- A UK national or anyone with a lawful immigration status in the UK. You will not be eligible if you are in the UK under any of the following conditions:
- On a student visa
- On a sponsorship visa
- On a visa or residence permit that restricts or prohibits study
- In the UK on holiday (with or without a visa)
