What is this workshop about?
Does the word ‘Algebra’ strike fear in your heart? Does it bring back memories of incomprehensible maths lessons? It doesn’t need to! Algebra pops up all the time, and many people use algebra skills without even realising they are doing so. This course will cover the basics of algebra, making sure you feel confident to tackle topics such as simplifying, substitution and solving.
Who is this workshop for?
Anybody who wishes to improve their confidence in Algebra.
Entry Requirements to do this workshop:
A basic level of conversational English is required to access this course.
How you will be assessed?
Through questions and answers, the completion of learner reflection form.
After this workshop you might like to… study further maths courses such as ‘an introduction to fractions, decimals and percentages’, or even progress to qualifications such as functional skills.

Venue Information
This course/workshop is run as real-time online using Google Classroom. This means that instead of having to go to a classroom, the classroom comes to you! You are taught by a teacher and you will have classmates that you share ideas with. To take part you will need a tablet or laptop/computer with a webcam and microphone to enable you to interact. A few days before the start, your teacher will email you with instructions on how to join the class.

This workshop is fully funded by the Department of Education for Education for adults who meet the following criteria:
- Aged 19 years or older on 1st September 2023.
- A Hertfordshire resident.
- A UK National and lived in the UK for the last 3 years or EEA National with settled/pre-settled status and lived in the UK/EEA for the last 3 years.
- Do not hold a Maths GCSE qualification.
