    What is this course about?

    Do you have a Smartphone but not sure how to use all its features? This course will teach you how to use all the main features of your smartphone and enable you to navigate these with confidence. The following topics will be included during this course.

    • Functions and Key features - Learn how to navigate and identify the main functions of the device, what the icons and the key features.
    • Settings - Identify the options and topics found in the Settings section and demonstrate how to use these. Learn how to, add contacts, use the functions in Emails and messaging apps. Demonstrate how to make a call and video call.
    • Internet and online safety - How to protect your device, scams, online shopping, passwords and protection, fake websites and content.
    • Camera and Photos - How to use the camera and its functions, including how to store, save and delete a photo. Sharing and sending photos in various ways.
    • Apps - App stores, How to find apps, how to download, remove and arrange. Notifications and Social Media

    Who is this course for?

    This course is for people who want to learn how to use the key features and basic functions of their smartphone or tablet. 

    Entry Requirements to do this course:

    A basic level of conversational and written English is required.

    How you will be assessed?

    Question and answer, discussions and observation of completing tasks on your device. You will also be asked to complete Learner reflections.

    How much studying will I need to do outside of the lesson?

    It will be advised that you practise what is covered in the class to develop confidence in using the functions and features learnt. 

    After this course you might like to… develop your technology skills further by attending our workshops or courses on Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Digital skills.

    What learners need to bring/supply

    Smartphone or device – fully working and charged. Notepad and pen.

    There are two steps to complete before studying with us and booking on here is the first step. Your next step will be to enrol on your chosen course following the instructions attached to your order confirmation email.

    NOTE: This course is for Hertfordshire Residents Only - With the exception of the registration fee, this course is fully funded by The Education & Skills Funding Agency for adults who meet a set *criteria - please refer to the 'Further Information' tab.

    Further information

    To take part in this course you will need a Smartphone that's in full working order and charged. You may also find it useful to have a note pad and pen.

    *Except for the registration fee, this course is fully funded by The Education & Skills Funding Agency for adults who meet the following criteria:

    • A Hertfordshire Resident
    • Aged 19 years or older on 1st September 2023
    • UK National and lived in UK for last 3 years or EEA National with settled/pre-settled status and lived in the UK/EEA for last 3 years
