What is this course about?
This is about how technology is changing the world of work and how you can successfully find and/or grow your career in the digital age. You’ll learn how to collaborate with others online to complete tasks. Discover more about presentational skills and how to create impressive PowerPoint slides. There are five main areas covered during this course:
- Personal brand - Understand the importance of digital literacy and how it can be achieved. Understand personal brand and its importance to employment
- Using Google search efficiently - You will learn some of the most useful Google search tricks, from basic tips to new features to help you perform more efficient and effective Google searches.
- Online collaboration - Practice sharing documents in the Cloud using Google Drive and work on online with others at the same time.
- Ms PowerPoint - Create PowerPoint presentation and practice presentational skills.
- Video conferencing apps - Practice using Google Meet features such as sharing Screen and presenting PowerPoint Slides. Explore other video conferencing apps.
Who is this course for?
This course is for people wanting to improve their digital skills to help them find work, to remain in employment or progress in their careers.
Entry Requirements to do this course:
A basic level of conversational and written English is needed to complete this course. You must also have a basic level of computer skills
How you will be assessed?
Question and answer, discussions and observations. You will also be asked to complete Learner reflections.
How much studying will I need to do outside of the lesson?
It will be advised to use the skills learnt in the classes and practise on your own Word documents and devices.

NOTE: This course is for Hertfordshire Residents Only - With the exception of the registration fee, this course is fully funded by The Education & Skills Funding Agency for adults who meet a set *criteria - please refer to the 'Further Information' tab.

Online live streamed - Google Classroom
Venue Information
This course/workshop is run as real-time online using Google Classroom. This means that instead of having to go to a classroom, the classroom comes to you! You are taught by a teacher and you will have classmates that you share ideas with. To take part you will need a tablet or laptop/computer with a webcam and microphone to enable you to interact. A few days before the start, your teacher will email you with instructions on how to join the class.

- A Hertfordshire Resident
- Aged 19 years or older on 1st September 2023
- UK National and lived in the UK for the last 3 years or EEA National with settled/pre-settled status and lived in the UK/EEA for the last 3 years
