    About this event

This training is organised by the HFL Hub.

We are once again running a ‘Big INSET’ day that primary schools can attend at the beginning of the Spring term 2026.

The themes for the day will be Assessment for Learning and Adaptive Teaching – both critical elements in the Ofsted Framework and areas that continue to be highlighted as areas for improvement.

The conference will include a key-note talk focused on the core themes of the day, which will include practical ideas for the classroom, as well as updates arising from the Curriculum & Assessment Review and the new Ofsted way of working. There will be a variety of subject-specific workshops, including core and foundation subjects, SEND and Early Years. There will also be opportunities for networking and for school staff to work together during the day.

    Learning Objectives

    • Explore the key themes of adaptive teaching and formative assessment and learn some practical techniques that can be applied in the classroom
    • Understand the significance of adaptive teaching within the new Ofsted framework
    • Hear key updates arising from the Curriculum & Assessment Review final report
    • Have opportunities to attend subject-specific workshops linked to the key themes of the day

The Big INSET will be held at a venue in Hertfordshire.
