Forward with Phonics is our Phase 3 to 5 phonics intervention for children from Year 2 upwards who have not made progress despite catch up using the school’s systematic synthetic phonics programme. The step-by-step lesson plan can also be used with resources from the school’s programme. This is one of the interventions recommended on our recent well received Persistent Literacy Difficulties course.

It is a highly structured intervention (one to one or very small group) which makes explicit the vital link between oral blending and segmenting and word reading and spelling.

Aims:

It uses a hands on approach, super high levels of modelling and fun visual resources to engage children and secure progress

The practical training session will provide clear modelling of how to carry out the assessment and deliver the intervention effectively.
