Aims:
This workshop focuses on ensuring our Education, Health & Care (EHC) Plans are accessible and user friendly for children and young people and their families. The session will explore what we mean by accessibility needs, with a focus of accessible language and effective signposting and methods of support.
Course Objectives:
At the end of this session participants will be able to:
- Explain what is meant by the term accessibility
- State how to identify and support accessibility needs that families may have
- State how to appropriately support and signpost children, young people and families with accessibility needs
- State how to identify language that is inaccessible
- State how to improve language to ensure it is understandable and accessible
- Explain how EHC Plans can be made available in alternative formats
