    This is a full day (in person) training course accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health and regulated by Ofqual to increase knowledge and understanding about gambling related harm and to help people find the right support.        

    Information about this training

    All participants must attend in person.   This training will help learners develop their knowledge, skills, understanding and awareness of gambling related harms

    It will help you understand the nature of harmful gambling and gambling related harms, and the impact on health and wellbeing.

    You will learn how to provide help and support to an individual at risk of, or affected by, gambling related harms and signpost to appropriate specialist services.

    Learning Outcomes

    Three modules will cover the following learning outcomes:

    • Understanding the nature of harmful gambling and gambling related harms, and the impact on health and wellbeing.
    • Understanding the prevalence and different perspectives on gambling related harms.
    • Identification of gambling related harms.
    • Understanding of the specialist support, treatment and signposting available to help those in need.

    Who is the course aimed at?

    Aimed at individuals who want to have a more in-depth knowledge about gambling-related harm, how it affects people, how to spot the signs that someone might be affected by gambling and learn how to help them get the right support.   

    It is suitable for front line staff (including volunteers), managers and commissioners.  This training is suitable for voluntary sector organisations, health and social care staff, local authority staff, people who work in the education sector, criminal justice system, and any other type of organisation that is in contact with members of the public.

    This course is also suitable for people who want to increase their personal knowledge of gambling-related harm to know how to help friends, family or colleagues, or may be caring for someone affected by gambling.

     

    Entry requirements to do this course

    There are no entry requirements.   Some learners may choose to do the 1.5 hour Bet You Can Help Now! training prior to attending this course but it is not a requirement.  

    How you will be assessed

    The Level 2 award will be assessed through a 40 minute, 25 question multiple choice examination, where a score of at least 17 out of 25 will need to be achieved, in order to receive the certification of programme completion.

    What happens after I book this training?

    After booking the training, you will receive a confirmation (this will be from no-reply@hertfordshire.gov.uk). Post-training, a follow-up email will provide instructions to complete for your participation certificate. You’ll also have the option to engage in follow-up communication.
