About this event
Information about this training
This “bitesize” education and learning experience has been adapted from the Lancet Commission on dementia prevention, intervention, and care (2024). This report provides evidence that around 45% of cases of dementia are potentially preventable, with more potential for reduction in risk for lower socioeconomic and minoritised groups, where dementia is more likely to develop at an earlier age.
Learning outcomes
The eLearning will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.
Participants will learn more about the 11 modifiable risk factors for dementia:
- hearing loss
- vision loss
- depression
- smoking
- alcohol use
- social isolation
- vascular risk factors (cholesterol, diabetes, obesity, and hypertension)
- physical inactivity
Note: This training will not provide information on early education, traumatic brain injury or air pollution.
After you have completed the course, you will be more informed about dementia modifiable risk factors. You will also be provided with resources that you can access for further information for yourself, staff, and members of the public.
