Supporting Links - Talking Tech : a workshop for parents and carers

Are you concerned about the amount of time your child spends online?

Are you having frequent arguments about getting off devices?

Concerns around social media, device use and excessive gaming are raised on every workshop and course that we present.

Parents are concerned about the amount of time spent on devices, how to avoid the constant arguments about leaving technology to do something else and are worried about how to keep their young people safe online.

Our "Talking Tech" workshop addresses these questions head on.

The session is for parents and carers of all children from Year 3 upwards at The Beacon and will focus on the key skills we all need as parents to enable us to communicate our concerns whilst reducing conflict around device use.

Through the use of group discussion, individual/group activities and written materials you will learn about:

• How to get children off their devices
• How to reduce conflict around device use
• Keeping young people safe
• Managing issues & boundaries around technology with your relationship intact

Parents will leave with the skills to apply this learning within their families.

A Supporting Links workshop is not a lecture. It is an interactive learning experience. You will NOT be required to take part in any role play!

In order to minimise the cost to parents, the school is supporting this event by hosting and providing refreshments. There are a limited number of places which will be offered on a first come first served basis.

We will be holding a waiting list and will offer places as and when they become available.

We offer a limited number of subsidised places for parents/carers in receipt of Universal Credit or for those families in receipt of free school meals or Pupil Premium.
