    About this event

Join us for the Sensory Signs, Signals and Solutions Workshop! This online event is designed to help individuals understand and navigate the complex world of sensory experiences. During this workshop, we will explore various sensory signs and signals that neurodivergent individuals may experience, and discuss practical solutions to address them. Our speakers will share their knowledge and provide valuable insights on how to support individuals with sensory processing difficulties.

Evidence Base: Sensory processing difficulties usually form part of the autism spectrum, ADHD and other neurodiverse conditions and have a significant impact on the child and family. Families are finding it increasingly difficult to access Occupational Therapy services which would help to identify their child’s difficulties.

Objective: This course is designed to help parents and carers gain an understanding of their child’s sensory signs and signals and learn strategies to support them.

    Course Content:

    • Senses - how many & what they are

    • What are sensory processing difficulties?

    • What does this mean for your child?

    • What sensory signals to look for?

    • How can you help?

    • S.E.N.S.E

    • Solutions

    • Individual senses

    • Sensory Circuits

    • Sensory Equipment

    • Resources

    Learning Outcomes:

    • Identify the 8 main senses and systems

    • Explore the differences in sensory processing that neurodivergent children and young people, such as those with autism/ADHD, may experience

    • Gain knowledge and understanding of their child’s sensory needs, behaviours, signs and signals

    • Explore approaches and build a toolbox of strategies to help meet their child’s sensory needs

    • Know where to go for additional help and resources

This event is a fantastic opportunity to expand your understanding of sensory challenges and gain practical strategies to enhance daily life. Don't miss out on this engaging and informative workshop!

This workshop is commissioned by Hertfordshire County Council.

    A Brief History of SPACE

We have been running since 2007 and we became a registered charity in 2017. We are staffed by an incredibly hard-working and enthusiastic team of parents and carers and are passionate about supporting our Hertfordshire families. Everything we do is designed to help families navigate local services, build confidence, share knowledge and enjoy social opportunities and activities.

As a local charity our ability to support all of our amazing local families is dependent on the generosity of our supporters. Every donation – no matter how small – makes a real difference. You can find out more about donating or fundraising for us here.
