About this event
Evidence Base: Many children and young people have emotional regulation challenges (often exacerbated by anxiety and lack of sleep), which result in extreme emotional reactions. Parents and carers can support their child or young person to help them manage their emotions.
Objective: This workshop is designed to help parents and carers better understand anger and de-escalate challenging situations to avoid conflict.
Workshop Content:
- What is anger?
- Anger management
- The Assault Cycle - antecedents, behaviour, consequences
- Strategies for managing anger & conflict
Learning Outcomes:
- Explore and develop an understanding of anger
- Identify avoidance behaviour and consequences
- Understand and identify their child or young persons ‘triggers’
- Explore approaches and build a toolbox of practical strategies and approaches to help de-escalate challenging situations
- Increase confidence in conflict resolution skills
