    The Children's Wellbeing Practitioners from the Hertfordshire Public Health School Nursing service (5-19) will present a workshop focused on supporting young people to manage their own emotional wellbeing and things parents can do to help.

    This event is open to young people attending a school in Hertfordshire.

     

    Who is this workshop aimed at?

    Young people aged 11-16 who would like to manage their emotional wellbeing better and parents who would like to be able to support.

     

    What is covered in the workshop?

    • What are emotions and why do we have them?

    • The Fight, Flight and Freeze Response

    • General Emotional Regulation Tips

    • Specific Emotional Regulation Tips for Anger, Anxiety and Low Mood

    • Additional resources of support

     

    What will I learn?

    • How our thoughts, feelings and behaviours interact

    • How to recognise and label emotions more effectively

    • Tips and strategies for maintaining general emotional wellbeing related to sleep, nutrition and exercise

    • Tips and strategies for regulating feelings of anger and anxiety through relaxation, mindfulness and grounding techniques

    • Tips and strategies for regulating feelings of low mood through connecting with others, building a back-up team, doing activities you enjoy and being kind to yourself.

    • How to effectively problem solve

    • Other strategies for managing unhelpful thoughts
