About this event
During this networking session our HMS vocal lead and presenting schools will shine a spotlight on the transformative power of singing as the cornerstone of music education. We will engage in a dynamic exploration of:
- The Importance of Singing: Delve into the myriad benefits of singing for children's holistic development, including its impact on language acquisition, emotional expression, and social cohesion.
- Building Vocal Confidence: Learning strategies and techniques for cultivating vocal confidence and proficiency among students of all ages and abilities, fostering a supportive and inclusive singing culture within the school community.
- Repertoire Selection: Explore diverse repertoire options spanning different genres, cultures, and historical periods, catering to the interests and backgrounds of the students while promoting musical literacy and cultural understanding.
- Vocal Pedagogy: Deepen your understanding of vocal pedagogy principles and best practices, including breath control, vocal range development, and vocal health maintenance, to support students in achieving their full singing potential.
By the end of the session, participants will have a renewed appreciation for the centrality of singing in primary school music education and a repertoire of practical strategies and resources to enrich their teaching practice and inspire a lifelong love of singing in their students.
